Herrengasse between Freyung and Michaelerplatz is reconstructed to a shared zone in 2016. In this connection parking lanes are removed and pedestrian areas are respectively widened. The road area is raised to the level of the pavement and remains in its current width. The new surfaces are established with high-quality Austrian granite. Parts of the road surface are covered with concrete. Apart from the surface the complete lighting system is exchanged, new seating accommodations are created and a new management concept is implemented.
