The Izmit Bay Suspension Bridge is part of a new highway linking the Turkish cities of Izmir and Istanbul and will be located at the eastern end of the Sea of Marmara, near İzmit and approximately 50 km from Istanbul.
Crossing the Bay of Izmit, the bridge and connecting highway will provide three lanes of traffic in each direction. The total length of the bridge is to be 2682 metres, with a main span of 1550 metres. The height of the tower is 252 m from sea level.
