In the course of a PPP project the capacity of a 37 km long section of the highway (from Maasvlakte to Vaanplein) is going to be expanded. The construction is done during a five years construction phase under regular traffic followed by 20 years of operation phase.

In this project VCE provided an integral Life Cycle Concept for all engineering structures on the construction section comprising 120 bridges, tunnels, retaining walls and noise barriers. For new built structures maintenance plans over 20 years were generated, for already existing structures the maintenance plans span both - the 5 years construction phase and the 20 years operation phase. Available inspection reports and documented maintenance interventions in the past were considered in the planning process.
