The highway BAB 9 – connecting Berlin and Munich – is the most important North-South Corridor from the Eastern to the Southern parts of Germany. In the course of a PPP project the whole highway is going to be broadened to 6 lanes and operated the following 20 years.

VCE – acting as technical advisor – developed a maintenance concept for the 130 engineering structures comprised on a 45 km long highway section for a timeframe of 20 years. The concept had to be consistent with DIN 1076 and had to meet the requirements concerning structural safety, traffic safety and durability defined in the guideline RI-EBW-PRÜF. Results from PMS and BMS were also incorporated in the concept.
