Ashghal (Public Works Authority), the Qatari authority responsible for all infrastructure projects, realizes the IDRIS Programme (Inner Doha Resewerage Implementation Strategy) for comprehensive extension and fundamental modernization of the sewage system in Doha in order to cope with the requirements of the considerably growing population.
VCE is involved as Quality Control Engineer (QCE) in the project LIS-03, the lot for the design and construction of two interceptor sewers. One sewer is located in Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC) and the second in the city of Al-Wakrah and is called Utility Corridor Lateral (UCL).
In this project four micro-tunnel boring machines are used for the construction of the deep sewer with an internal diameter of 1.6 m and a total length of approx. 21 km. All in all 47 shafts with depths up to 45 m have to be established for the operation of the micro-tunnel boring machines and the installation of the jacking pipes.
The services as Quality Control Engineer comprise the review and the approval of the design as well as the quality control in construction.
